Lovely Words Thinlits + Foil Frenzy DSP for GDP090

I wish I could buy every new product in the 2017-2018 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. But that is just not my reality, so I had to be selective with what I purchased in June. One of the first papers I jumped on was the Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper. This DSP pack is so much fun and will be a WOW element on any project. Today I paired it with the Lovely Words Thinlits to make a card for a friend fighting breast cancer. I wanted there to be a brightness to this card, and the Foil Frenzy DSP gives me the shine I was looking for!

Here is my card:

And here is the banner that inspired my card:

Where is the shine I’m referring to you ask? Well just tilt the DSP slightly into the light and it will shine away! Here is another shot:

This is a pretty simple card to put together. The one tricky part is lining up the die from the Layering Circles Framelits on the outside of the die from the Lovely Words Thinlits. I used washi tape to hold the two dies in place which worked well. First I placed the hugs thinlit on the paper with a couple pieces of washi tape. Then I positioned the outside die to make sure neither moved when running them through the Big Shot.

For the second part of the sentiment and the little hearts I went back to an old favorite – Jar of Love and the Everyday Jars Framelits. I love this set! I used the 1/2″ Finely Woven ribbon in Berry Burst to finish off the card. This makes the card bulky but I will be hand-delivering this card so that is OK.

It has been a long time since I haven’t used any Whisper White on a card, but it works here with Powder Pink as my “light” color. And if you notice, there are only three colors used on this card: Berry Burst, Powder Pink and Kraft.

This card (well any card with a shiny element) was hard to photograph! I hope showing you a couple different angles gives you a good idea of how nice it looks in person.

I can’t wait to use the other colors and patterns in the Foil Frenzy paper pack. You can see the three patterns in the image below, and the four colors are Berry Burst foil, Tangerine Tango foil, Lemon Lime Twist foil and Soft Sky foil. Of course since there is a shine to each color it is not a perfect match to the cardstock and ribbon, but it is close enough for me!

I hope you enjoyed my card today for this fun sketch challenge. Be sure to head on over to the Global Design Project blog to see all the other inspiration from the amazing design team.
