I will admit that I was not fond of the new 2017-2019 In Color Lemon Lime Twist when I first saw it. However, the best way to really know a color is to use it. And now that I have used it, I am starting to like this fun color. I paired it with the Dapper Denim gradient paper from the new Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack and I think the two colors compliment each other nicely.

In the next graphic you can see how I created the background DSP panel.

  1. I wanted there to be an equal amount of the dark blue on top and light blue on the bottom so I started by cutting off 3/8″ from the top. Then I cut the side down to 5-1/8″ and finally the bottom at 3-7/8″ to complete the panel. (The remaining ombre strip from the right side will be fun to use on another card!)
  2. Next I positioned the “D” and “A” dies from the Large Letters Framelits evenly within the two middle colors of the background panel, securing them with washi tape. I ran this through the Big Shot and removed the letters.
  3. Finally I added the “A” die back in so I could position the second “D” and then removed it before running the panel through the Big Shot again.

My original intent for this card was to have all three letters inlaid back into the die cut areas. However, once they were cut out I felt the letters were too spaced out and made it hard to fit the balloons on either end. So I pulled the two “D’s” in toward the center. I really like how this gave the card even more dimension with the darker areas on either side.

The letters are from the Letters for You set and are stamped in Lemon Lime Twist. The balloons are from the Lift Me Up set and stamped in Dapper Denim and the clouds are stamped off once in the same color ink.  I layered some in front and some behind the balloons and sentiment for more interest. I think my favorite part of this card though are the new Glitter Enamel Dots. They are designed to coordinate with the Color Theory DSP and come in ombre shades with ten each of four colors in four sizes. They are awesome! Can you see the sparkle?

This card is a good fit for whenever you need to thank a dad for helping out or supporting a journey you are on. However to complete the theme of this hop, you can add a simple “Happy Father’s Day” sentiment to the inside of the card and you will be good-to-go for June 18th! You can use stamps from Crazy About You, Guy Greetings, or Thoughtful Banners!

I couldn’t just let the die cut “DAD” letters go to waste, so I made a matching birthday card.

I stamped the Lemon Lime Twist cardstock background with the clouds in the same color ink. Hand stamped backgrounds are so much fun, and I love how this one turned out! I had room for the larger balloon on this card by making it a vertical orientation. Everything else is pretty straight forward. I added all the stamped and die cut elements with Liquid Multipurpose Glue and called it done!
