Oh So Succulent Background for GDP076

Today I am playing along with the challenge over at the Global Design Project. We were to case a fabulous card by Kylie Bertucci and I decided to keep a similar design but use the Oh So Succulent stamp set. Here is what I came up with:

And here is the design that inspired my cards:

I had a lot of fun making these cards using the 2-step stamping technique. First I stamped the outline images in a darker color ink and then went back in with the filler stamp in a lighter color. The hardest part was picking the color combinations for each card and then choosing a color for the card base. But I am happy with the results and will be sending these cards off to some relatives to thank them for presents we received over the holidays – better late than never, right?!!

This is the first card I made and I wanted to give the flowers a variation of color (two-tone) so I tried sponging on a bit of a darker color after inking up the solid image. This didn’t work very well and ended up a bit streaky, but I still like the end result. So that is why there are a couple inks listed below for the lighter colors.

  • Large Flowers: Rose Red, Blushing Bride, and Sweet Sugarplum
  • Small Flowers: Tangerine Tango Peekaboo Peach and Pumpkin Pie
  • Accents: Old Olive and Mint Macaron
  • Cardstock: Tangerine Tango and Wild Wasabi

Next I moved onto blues and purples.

  • Large Flowers: Marina Mist, Soft Sky and Pool Party
  • Small Flowers: Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum, Wisteria Wonder (stamped off)
  • Accents: Perfect Plum and Wisteria Wonder
  • Cardstock: Elegant Eggplant and Soft Sky

And finally I chose some colors from the Brights Color Family.

  • Large Flowers: Emerald Envy, Bermuda Bay (stamped off)
  • Small Flowers: Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral (stamped off)
  • Accents: Melon Mambo (stamped off) and Emerald Envy
  • Cardstock: Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo

I really enjoyed this project and I love how the cards turned out. I can’t wait to try more color combinations with these fun images! Which of the three I shared today is your favorite? Let me know in the comments. 🙂
