Global Design Project 038 – A Special Thank You Card

I missed last week at the Global Design Challenge because I never know what to substitute when I don’t have the right colors – the struggle is real, right?! I wish I could just go buy up all the colors but then I would have no money left for stamps and what good is ink without stamps? LOL! I’ll get them eventually. Here is my card for the sketch challenge this week. I have been using a lot of the Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper and really love how it brightens up my cards! This card is going to my mother-in-law and father-in-law from my family. They were here visiting last weekend and brought goodies for the kids, treated us to a nice dinner out, and took the two older kids on a Barnes and Noble shopping spree! We are very thankful and I hope this card expresses that sentiment.

Using the solid stripe stamp from the Thoughtful Banners set I stamped alternating stripes in Calypso Coral, Flirty Flamingo and Peekaboo Peach. These are not the colors in the Affectionately Yours patterned paper but I thought they still looked very nice together. I stamped the words with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The banner and thank you words were stamped in Versa Mark Ink on Night of Navy Cardstock and heat set with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The card base is Peekaboo Peach.

I know the photopolymer stamps take a little getting used to but I am really enjoying the see-through style and moving along more quickly with my cards rather than getting held up on each word by needing to use a stamp positioner. Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the Stamp-a-ma-jig and use it when needed (which is probably more often for me than most people because I am pretty anal particular about images getting stamped straight!) but I stamped all the words here with no problem. I would have been a little upset if I got a word crooked and had to stamp all those stripes again!

Now lest you think I have started making cards and stamping with wild abandon, let me assure you my decisions on what to put where do not come lightly! As you can see in this next image I went through several versions of the banner I was adding to the card to see which I liked best. And now that I am looking at this picture I see why I didn’t like the green – it is Emerald Envy and the green in the patterned paper is Cucumber Crush! LOL! Oh well, I will have these ready to go for another card!
