Happy Birthday Card using Project Life

I have done a lot of scrapbooking in the past, both traditional and digital. When the Project Life system was introduced by Beck Higgins I was so impressed by the simplicity of the products and how it worked for both the beginning as well as the seasoned scrapbooker. Now I have another reason to love Project Life – card making! At Onstage 2016 in Salt Lake City last month there was a demonstration with one of the new Project Life kits where individual cards were used to make greeting cards instead of scrapbook pages. That was a WOW moment for me and when I saw the theme for the Global Design Project challenge this week I knew I wanted to give card making with Project Life a try.

Global Design Project #035

I just got my pre-order shipment in yesterday and truthfully it had more returning product than pre-order product (for now… someone is going to have to restrain me on June 1st), but I did order the retiring Project Life by Stamin’ Up! This is the Life Card Collection and Accessory Kit (50% off!!!) to put together a 6×8 album for my daughter’s softball pictures. So last night I sat down with the cards and went through them several times looking for what I thought would look good together. What do you think?

Global Design Project #035 - Closeup

The middle section with the “H” is a 4 x 4 card which I cut down to 3.75 x 3.75 inches. The top and bottom patterned paper is from a 3 x 4 card trimmed to 3 x 3.75 inches and then cut in half horizontally. I thought the banner and “birthday” sentiment from the Number of Years set would make more of an impression white embossed on black cardstock and I think it really helps tie it in to the white “happy” sentiment as well as the black polka dots in the patterned paper. And that was it for this card! I matted it with Daffodil Delight cardstock and then adhered the main piece to a black cardstock base. So easy!
