Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP

In the past I have had a hard time incorporating patterned paper into my card making, but I am learning to embrace it more this year and have loved the result. I decided to grab the Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper in my pre-order to see what I could put together with it. Also, I finally purchased the Butterflies Thinlits and Bold Butterfly Framelits and couldn’t wait to play with them so I paired these together with the DSP and made a fun set of cards!Affectionately Your Specialty Designer Series Paper. Instead of just adding the butterfly on top of the DSP I cut it out first with a die from the Bold Butterfly Framelits and then cut one from Whisper White Cardstock and two from Vellum Cardstock. I inlaid the butterfly made with the Whiper White Cardstock, followed by the DSP butterfly and the two cut from vellum before adding the Thinlit cut from Daffodil Delight Cardstock.

Keeping with Paula’s inspiration card I made the sentiment by heat embossing white powder on Basic Black Cardstock using four different words from the Crazy For You stamp set. The main panel is matted with Whisper White Cardstock and then mounted to a Night of Navy card base.

Sneak Peek Stampin' Up! 2016-2017 Annual Catalog. #stampinup #affectionatelyyours #20162017sneakpeekI cut these into strips to fill up the front of a card and adhered them to a piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock. Then I trimmed it down so it was even on all sides. After I was done with this I realized one of the strips had a third color (Daffodil Delight) which I felt stood out a bit so I used that color as a background for the black butterfly, again putting it under a second butterfly cut from Vellum Cardstock. I finished this card with a sentiment from the Butterfly Basics stamp set. This card is also matted in Whisper White Cardstock and mounted on a Night of Navy card base.

For the final card I used the elegant cardstock with just the Night of Navy and Crumb Cake colors. I was going to leave it to the one DSP pattern but decided I wanted a little more color so I added a small piece behind the butterfly.

I had a hard time deciding what color to use for the butterfly on this card and actually cut one out in four different colors. The good news is that I have lots of butterflies ready to use on other cards! The new Thoughtful Banners set and coordinating Duet Banner punch gave me the perfect sentiment spot to add on top of the butterfly, popped up with dimensionals. The banner and “thank you” is stamped in Versa Mark ink and heat set using white embossing powder. Again, this card is matted in Whisper White Cardstock and mounted on a Night of Navy card base.

I hope you enjoyed my cards and found some inspiration for this fun paper. Thanks for stopping by!
